“I suspected I was on to something when I finally finished this one – after years of trying. The music was borrowed from a ditty I wrote in my folk duet days (Hey Lonnie) called ‘Lead Me to Your Love Light’. But it was musically transformed by my conversion from an acoustic guitar guy to an electric guitar side man working for Canadian singer Charity Brown in the 1970s. Folk became rock, and now I needed new lyrics.

The song title came to me in a profound moment of pushing back against a world where every door I knocked on was locked, and every lead went nowhere. Giving up on a career in music seemed a deeply depressing near certainty. As it turns out, pushing back in song was a pretty good idea. Big thanks to Pat, Neil and everyone who embraced the message of self empowerment the song represents.”
